HAPPY & HOLY

Those that look to be happy must first look to be holy. --- William Gurnall

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous...whoever keeps his word, in him truly the love of God is perfected (I John 2:1,5).

A hymn to read, sing, hum, or whistle, to the glory of God: Gracious Spirit, Dwell With Me (Thomas T. Lynch, 1855).

ELECT

From eternity to eternity there is never a time when God does not know and love His elect children. ---- pgs

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us for adoption through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of His will, to the praise of His glorious grace, with which He has blessed us in the Beloved (Ephesians 1:3-6).

PROMISES

If the weeds of loneliness and fearfulness grow in your heart, crowd them out with plantings of sturdy flowers of faith and confidence rooted in the promises of the Word of God.---- pgs.

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want....  (Psalm 23:1a).

I sought the Lord, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears (Psalm 34:4).

O taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him. The LORD redeems the soul of His servants and none of them who trust in Him shall be desolate (Psalm 3:8, 22).

He has said, "I will never leave you, nor forsake you," so that we may boldly say, "The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do to me" (Hebrews 13:5, 6).

YES,BUT

Q: If Christ did not live a perfect life and die a substitutionary death and rise from the dead, what would we poor sinners do?

A: We would all die and go to hell, we would never enjoy fellowship with God nor with each other, we could never rejoice over lost souls coming to God, we would never know the joy of serving Him, we would never know the love of Christ that surpasses all knowledge, we would never know the grace and forgiveness of God, we would have false hope or no hope...."we would be children destined for wrath...."

Yes, but....

"....but God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ -- by grace you have been saved -- and raised us up with Him and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming age He might show the immeasurable riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. For by grace you have been saved through faith . And this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God...." ---- Ephesians 2:4-9a.

LAUGHTER

Next to a good soul-stirring prayer is a good laugh, when it is promoted by what is pure in itself and in its grotesque application. ---- Mutchmore.

....a time to weep, and a time to laugh... (Ecclesiastes3:4).

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full (John 15:11).

A hymn to read, sing, hum, or whistle, to the glory of God: Rejoice, the Lord is King, Charles Wesley, 1746.
